Fresher Food: Stir Fry Recipe

I made this stir fry recipe all the time as a student. Like, all the time. It's so quick and easy and very, very affordable - making it a great option for a student meal.

Although I've kept this recipe vegetarian, you could easily add meat if you wanted to. Simply cook it in the pan before adding any of the ingredients below.

It's filling and tastes great - you'd never think it was a 5/10 minute meal!

A bowl of freshly made noodles with onion, pepper, soy sauce and honey sits on a tablecloth,

Vegetarian Noodle Stir Fry Recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients

1 Onion

1 Pepper

2tbsp Soy Sauce

1tbsp Honey

Oil

Method:

  1. Slice your onion and pepper to medium-fine pieces.

  2. Add a small glug of oil to a wok-style pan (one that isn't very thick). Crank the heat up high. When the pan is hot, add your sliced onions.

  3. When the onions begin to soften, they will start to turn translucent. At this point, at your peppers.

  4. Once the peppers are softening, it's time to add some flavour! First, add your soy sauce and then your honey. You can add more or less of either, depending on what your taste buds are telling you!

  5. Immediately add your noodles to the pan. As they soften up, you will be able to break them apart with a spoon or spatula. They will soak up some of the sauce, so it's okay if you want to add more.

  6. Serve up, and enjoy!

The difference between dark and light soy sauce is that, while they both have a salty soy flavour, light soy sauce is stronger. As a very general rule: light soy is for adding intense flavour, dark soy is generally used to add intense colour.

Hope that helps freshers!
